I arrive two and a half to three hours early regardless. At a venue I already know, that margin goes toward testing and detail rather than orientation.
Your day happens on three sides of one building
Ceremony on the lake-facing side under the awning, dinner in a tent on the opposite side, and dancing inside the main building. Three locations means three sound setups, and it is the sort of thing worth knowing while you plan rather than on the morning. Chairs were already set for the ceremony at the wedding I worked, though I would confirm with the venue whether those are theirs or a rental.
The barn doors frame the lake
The sweetheart table sits with its back to the building, and the big barn doors open so the lake reads straight through behind you in photographs. It is a genuinely lovely detail, and it dictates where the booth can go: I moved mine to the far side of the tent rather than stand in the frame.
I bring my own power
There is no power on the far side of the dinner tent. I carry a 2000-watt Anchor power station that covers exactly this, and it doubles as a UPS, so the sound does not depend on the building or on a run of extension cord. I use it at barn venues and anywhere the supply might be unreliable.
Inside is wide open
Concrete floor, generous open space, and a good room for dancing once everyone comes in from dinner. Set back from the water rather than on it, so the lake is a view rather than a backdrop.

Where does each part of the day happen?
Three sides of the same building. The ceremony is on the side closest to the lake, under the awning. Dinner is in a tent on the opposite side. Dancing is inside the main building. That is three separate sound setups and two guest movements, and knowing it in advance is the difference between a planned day and an improvised one.
Will you be standing in our photographs?
No, and it is worth explaining why this venue makes that a real question. Your sweetheart table faces out with its back to the building, and the barn doors open behind you so the lake shows through in every photograph taken toward the table. That is where a booth would naturally go. I moved mine to the far side of the tent instead, which meant an extra setup but kept me out of your pictures and still put the sound where it needed to be.
Is there power out at the dinner tent?
Not on the far side of it, no. I carry a 2000-watt Anchor power station for exactly this situation, and it also functions as a UPS, so a power problem at the building does not become a silence at your wedding. It is standard kit for me at barn venues and anywhere the supply is uncertain.
Are ceremony chairs provided?
Chairs were already in place on the lake-facing side at the wedding I worked, but I do not know whether they belong to the venue or were rented in, so ask them directly rather than assuming. It is worth doing early, because ceremony seating is one of those items that quietly turns into a delivery on your timeline.
Is the venue on the water?
Set back from it rather than on it. You get the lake as a view, particularly from the ceremony side and through the open barn doors, but you are not at the shoreline.
Do you charge extra to travel to Hector?
No. Standard travel extends up to 180 miles from the Finger Lakes with no travel fee. Destination events beyond that are accepted, with travel arranged per event.
